No OnePlus 9T pro this year, says leak, but nice display specs for 9T

Last year OnePlus decided to skip the introduction of a Pro variant of the OnePlus 8T. That was surprising at the time, as the company launched the OnePlus 7T Pro (and even a OnePlus 7T Pro 5G McLaren Edition) in 2019.

Recently a leak on Weibo (shared byd TechDroider on Twitter and sponsored by Telephone arena) claims OnePlus won’t change the formula again this year. According to the information from the speaker, there will likely be no OnePlus 9T Pro in 2021.

That makes a lot of sense, so we tend to believe it. Even ignoring the fact that OnePlus skipped a Pro model last year, ongoing global chip scarcity would make it difficult to roll out two T-series phones this fall. We bet there will only be one OnePlus 9T.

Regarding this vanilla model, the leaker claims that OnePlus could offer a very similar viewing experience with the 9T that it currently offers with the OnePlus 9 Pro. According to the leaker, the 9T’s display could be a curved LTPO-OLED with a variable refresh rate of 120 Hz. However, the resolution would likely be reduced to 1080p instead of the 9 Pro’s 1440p quality.

OnePlus usually launches its T-series phone in October, although that launch could easily be pushed up as the 9-series launch came earlier than usual this year.
