The next iteration of Motorola’s revived Razr flip phone will support 5G connectivity and will feature a 48-megapixel camera and 6.2-inch screen, as announced by well-known leaker Evan Blass late Wednesday.

The much-rumored continuation of the revival of the legendary phone was generally expected to arrive in North America in September. When the Razr 2019 launched in the U.S. in early February, it was the first vertically foldable smartphone to hit the market.

Details in Blass’s tweet on Wednesday were incomplete, but indicated that the handset would be 5G capable. 5G networks are about 10 to 100 times faster than a typical cellular connection and are expected to offer the basic technology to charge areas such as self-driving cars, virtual and augmented reality, and telemedicine services such as remote operations. It will eventually connect everything from agricultural equipment to surveillance cameras to your smartphone.

Blass’ tweet indicated that the handset will also have a powerful 48-megapixel lens as the primary camera and a 20-megapixel secondary camera. The phone will also have 256 gigabytes of storage and will run Android 10, according to Blass’ Leck.

The leak matches previous reports on the handset. XDA developers reported in June that the Razr 2 – its unofficial name – would feature Qualcomm’s 5G-capable Snapdragon 765 processor and a larger 2,845 mAh battery compared to the phone’s 2,510 mAh battery in 2019 .

The original Motorola Razr phone from 2004 was the best-selling phone ever, before Apple snapped the crown a few years later with the iPhone.

Although the 2019 version was praised for its inventive hinge mechanism and the technical miracle that it portrayed, the phone has been widely criticized for lacking high-end specs given the price of $ 1,500.

Motorola did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
