Before you ask, yes, this new Motorola Edge is in the same family of phones as the company’s Motorola Edge 20 handsets. These phones were launched in other parts of the world earlier this summer. However, this new phone was designed exclusively for the North American market and differs from the other Edge phones in a few ways.
The new Edge has a flat 6.8-inch LCD display with a high refresh rate of 144 Hz and support for HDR10 video. Inside is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G processor with support for 5G sub-6 GHz and mmWave networks. The phone is sold in North America and is unlocked with 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of onboard storage. However, some retail locations might sell the phone with a 6GB RAM / 128GB memory configuration. However, there will be no way to add more memory to the phone.

Solid (on paper) camera and other functions
The phone’s three rear camera sensors are led by a 108 MP main camera. Motorola says it will use ultra-pixel technology to combine all nine pixels into one 2.1 μm ultra-pixel. This should improve recordings in poor lighting conditions by up to nine times. There is also an 8MP 119-degree ultra-wide camera and a 2MP depth sensor. The front camera has a 32-megapixel sensor that uses AI tools to enable better selfie pictures in low light.
Some of the photo software features of the phone include Dual Capture, which allows users to take both rear and selfie photos at the same time. It also supports slow motion video clips, which are up to four times slower than previous Motorola phones. Videos can also use audio zoom features that filter out any ambient noise so that the subject of your video gets the most attention.
The battery will also be pretty big at 5000 mAh. The company claims the new Motorola Edge should last up to two days on a single charge. Unfortunately, there is no wireless charging here, but it does support fast wired charging with its 30 W turbo power function. A charger with this support will be included, which is a pretty big deal considering that more and more phone manufacturers are choosing to remove the included chargers from their handsets.
Motorola Edge gets better software updates
While the phone ships with the nearly year-old Android 11, the company says this new Motorola Edge will receive at least two major operating system updates, so you can expect Android 12 and Android 13 to be installed at some point. The phone will also receive security updates every two months for two years.
The pre-sale for the Motorola Edge begins in the US on August 23, and the sale officially begins on September 2. The phone will be unlocked on the Motorola website and available from other retailers such as Amazon, Best Buy and B & HPhoto. For a limited time, the unlocked phone is only priced at $ 499.99, which is $ 200 off the normal price of $ 699.99. It is not yet known exactly when this promotion will end.
The phone will also be sold through Verizon and Spectrum Mobile in the coming weeks. Sales will begin in Canada sometime in the coming months.
