New evidence strongly suggests Galaxy F22 is rebranded Galaxy A22

Official Samsung Galaxy A22

TL; DR

  • A new government filing indicates that the upcoming Galaxy F22 is a renamed Galaxy A22 phone.
  • It is unknown if it is a renamed Galaxy A22 or Galaxy A22 5G.

Samsung quietly announced the Galaxy A22 5G and A22 4G (see above) in Europe earlier this month, marking the Korean manufacturer’s latest budget entries. Now, new evidence has emerged, strongly suggesting that the Galaxy A22 series could be the base for the unannounced Galaxy F22.

The two phones were listed in the same Bluetooth SIG file yesterday (June 14th), suggesting that the Galaxy F22 is indeed a renamed Galaxy A22 series phone. We are also given a model number for the F22 (SM-E225F_DS) which indicates a dual SIM variant and it matches well with the model number SM-A225 of the Galaxy A22 range.

However, it is unclear whether the Galaxy F22 is based on the 4G or 5G version of the Galaxy A22. Both models offer a 5,000mAh battery with 15W charging power and a fingerprint scanner attached to the side.

The 4G version offers an unnamed 4G chipset, a 90 Hz OLED panel, a quad rear camera (48 MP + 8 MP + 2 MP + 2 MP) and a 13 MP selfie shooter. The 5G version now has a MediaTek Dimensity 700 SoC, a 90 Hz LCD screen, a triple rear-view camera (48 MP + 5 MP + 2 MP) and an 8 MP selfie snapper.

Anyway, the Galaxy F series is generally limited to India, so it is a safe bet that the Galaxy F22 will land in the subcontinent as well. There’s obviously no official pricing, but the 5G model sells for ~ $ 300 in Europe. India generally enjoys lower prices than Europe, so we suspect a Galaxy F22 based on the A22 5G will be a bit cheaper when it actually hits the market.
