Apple AirTags are helpful if you are an iPhone owner who needs to find lost keys or bags. But what if you’re an Android user or don’t like Apple’s approach to bluetooth locators? Do not be upset. We’ve rounded up some of the best AirTag alternatives to give you a meaningful choice when searching for your gear.

The best AirTag alternatives

1. Samsung Galaxy SmartTag and SmartTag Plus

If you’re looking for one of the most straightforward AirTag alternatives, it doesn’t get much closer than the Samsung Galaxy SmartTag and SmartTag Plus.

Both are essentially standard Bluetooth item trackers, but offer Apple-like benefits that you won’t get from competitors. Both access the Galaxy Find Network – the hordes of relatively new Samsung phones will help you find your goods. The Galaxy SmartTag Plus complements that with ultra-broadband, which uses AR to determine the exact location of an item if you’re using a Galaxy S21, Galaxy Z Fold 2, or Galaxy Note 20 Ultra. If you add 390 feet of range, there is a real possibility that you will get your items back even if they are far from the beaten path.

Be prepared to pay a premium. The regular Galaxy SmartTag is roughly the same as the AirTag price of $ 29, but the more directly comparable SmartTag Plus is available for $ 39.99. The Samsung phone you need is not included. If you are a Galaxy owner looking for real AirTag alternatives, this is a great choice.

2. Tile Pro

Tile is still the giant in the item tracker world, and its offerings don’t get much better than the Pro’s. This is one of the better AirTag alternatives if you want a no-compromise, cross-platform device.

The Pro offers a range of 400 feet which increases the chances of tracking and recovering your gear. It’s also waterproof, and a one-year replaceable battery ensures you can keep using it for the long term. More importantly, the combination of extensive operating system support (Android, iOS, and Windows) with Tile’s extensive network should ensure you get thorough coverage.

The Tile Pro is not for everyone. The $ 35 price tag makes it one of the more expensive AirTag alternatives, and its size is inconvenient to slip into smaller items. You’ll also want a Tile Premium subscription to get the most out of your tracker with features like 30-day location history and smart alerts. However, it is worth considering whether or not you refuse to be tied to a phone manufacturer’s ecosystem.

3. Chipolo One and Chipolo One Spot

Chipolo a job

There are plenty of item tracker developers going beyond heavyweights like Apple, Samsung, and Tile. Chipolo is one of the few that stands out from the crowd – both for its value and for its adoption of new technologies.

The Chipolo One itself is cheap at $ 25 and there are no features hidden behind subscriptions. For example, you will receive out of range notifications for free. It makes very loud (120dB) sounds that you can use to find your objects in noisy environments and also acts as a remote shutter release for your phone camera. Two years of battery life can help you save money in the long run, and support for Android and iOS (plus Alexa, Google Assistant, and Siri) gives you the freedom to switch phones.

However, if you’re stuck with iPhone camp, consider the Chipolo One Spot. It’s the first third-party tracker to support Apple’s Find My network, which dramatically increases the chance of someone stumbling across your lost items. Although it won’t ship until June 2021 and hasn’t received a prize yet, it could be one of the best AirTag alternatives just by using the same community as Apple’s product.

That’s it for our AirTag alternatives list. Are there any other item trackers on your shortlist? Let others know in the comments below.
