The U.S. Space Force may be a brand new branch of the military, but it is already being parodyed.

Netflix’s comedy Space forces will debut on May 29 and the first teaser trailer reveals spacesuits, scientists, a Beach Boys song and at least one prototype lost in an explosion.

Steve Carell plays the four-star general and decorated pilot Mark R. Naird, the newly appointed chief of the US Space Force. The Action is pushed by a desire to bring people back to the moon while “achieving total spatial dominance”.

The teaser shows Naird’s unexpected date, along with giggles at the concept of a space force. It doesn’t go deep into the plot, but there is evidence of conflict between military personnel and scientists.

Netflix teased the teaser on Twitter on Monday with a Carell poster in moon camouflage against a lunar landscape with the catchphrase “Space will never see us coming”.

Carell is accompanied by John Malkovich, Lisa Kudrow Jane Lynch from Glee and Jimmy O. Yang from Silicon Valley.

So far, all signs indicate that the Space Force will be an explosion.
