Netflix hopes you’ll watch TikTok-like comedy shorts on your phone
- Netflix is following TikTok with the launch of Fast Laugh’s comedy shorts.
- You’ll see a non-stop feed of segments that you like or share, and play the full gigs if you like.
- It is initially limited to iPhone users, but will be available for Android “soon”.
Netflix tries a familiar tactic to stay relevant in the 2020s – it fakes a social network that is all the rage among teenagers. The streaming giant launched a Fast Laughs feature for mobile users that ripples on TikTok and delivers an endless feed of comedy videos.
Tap a Fast Laughs tab and you’ll see comedy clips from the Netflix catalog, ranging from specials (think Ali Wong or Kevin Hart) to movies and full shows. Similar to TikTok, you can like segments or share them with your friends on social networks like Instagram and Twitter.
However, Netflix is by no means shy about its ultimate goal: to improve views for its comedy shows. You can play the videos in full length if you like the teaser or add them to your watchlist to catch later. The company clearly hopes that through Snicker, you can see a stand-up gig that you would otherwise have ignored.

However, you may have to wait to start watching. Fast Laughs is currently limited to iPhone users in select countries. Android tests are “coming soon,” Netflix said. This is good news if you prefer your comedy in bite-sized form, but it might keep you waiting for a while to get some laughs on your Galaxy.
