Motorola announces the Moto G60S with quick charging, quad cameras
TL; DR
- Motorola announced the G60S.
- The phone takes the basic design of the G60, adding more cameras, faster charging, and a MediaTek chipset.
- However, it compromises in a few key areas.
In April, Motorola launched the Moto G60 with a large battery, fast display and the first 108 MP G-series camera. Now the company has announced that the Moto G60S is equipped with different hardware in key areas.
The Moto G60S shares the 6.8-inch FHD 120 Hz LCD with its brother. It also carries a similar shell with a pinhole camera on the front and a headphone jack on the base.
The changes appear under his skin. The G60S uses a MediaTek Helio G95 SoC in contrast to the Snapdragon 732G of the G60. There is also 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage.
There are more cameras on the G60S too, but Motorola is dropping the 108MP used on the G60. Instead, the G60S is led by a 64 MP main camera. There is also an 8 MP ultra wide angle, 2 MP depth sensor and an additional 5 MP macro lens for assistance. At the front, the G60’s 32-megapixel selfie shooter gives way to a 16-megapixel sensor.
Where the Motorola G60S trumps its brother are the charging inserts. The company claims the 50W charging system can charge the phone for 12 hours in 12 minutes. In contrast, the G60 offers 20W charging support. However, the G60S has a smaller 5,000 mAh battery compared to its 6,000 mAh brother.
Finally, the phone arrives with Android 11 out of the box and comes in dark blue or silvery green colors.
Motorola G60S price and availability
The Motorola G60S is about give and take. If you want a bigger battery and bigger camera sensors, the G60 is the ticket. Do you prefer more cameras and faster loading? The G60S is the better choice. For now, at least, you probably don’t have to choose between the two.
Motorola launched the Moto G60S in Brazil starting at 2,499 Brazilian reals. That’s significantly more expensive than the G60 in India, but Brazil has a complicated smartphone market that is often faced with inflated prices.
There’s no word on the international availability of the G60S, but expect it to drop closer to the G60’s price should it make its way to other markets.
