Moto E7 Plus hits India: A major upgrade for under Rs 10,000

  • Motorola launched the Moto E7 Plus in India.
  • It comes with a Snapdragon 460 chipset, a 5,000 mAh battery and a 48 megapixel rear camera.
  • The phone will retail for Rs 9,499 (~ $ 129) when it goes on sale next week.

The Moto E7 Plus arrived in Brazil earlier this month and brought a pretty solid, low-end smartphone experience to the table on paper. Now the affordable Motorola phone is spreading its wings to India.

The new phone from Motorola offers a lot of performance compared to its predecessor and offers a Snapdragon 460 chipset, 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of expandable storage. The former feature is quite noteworthy as it is the first time we’ve seen powerful CPU cores in a Snapdragon 400 series chipset. So, in theory, you should expect improvements like smoother browsing, a more responsive camera app, and faster loading times.

You also have a 6.5-inch (1,600 x 720) IPS LCD screen here, while Motorola says the 5,000 mAh battery should give you two days of use. Unfortunately, charging at 10W means the Moto E7 Plus will spend a long time on the charger if the juice runs out. You’ll also need to use a micro-USB cable to charge the phone instead of using more modern USB-C connectivity.

Motorola’s new phone isn’t the most feature-packed camera platform either, but a 48MP + 2MP rear setup and an 8MP front camera in a notch should handle photos just fine. Fortunately, you still get the company’s software tricks like spot colors, night vision, and clippings.

Other notable features of the Moto E7 Plus include a water-repellent design, a fingerprint scanner on the back, a 3.5mm port, and Bluetooth 5. Don’t expect NFC here, though. Even so, it’s still a big upgrade over the Moto E6 Plus between the camera, battery and chipset.

The budget phone will go on sale in India on September 30th through Flipkart. Expect to pay Rs 9,499 (~ $ 129) for the phone. At this price, the Moto E7 Plus is within range of phones like the Redmi 9 Prime and the Realme Narzo 10A.
