The OnePlus 8T was only launched last week. It’s been roughly a year since the OnePlus 7T series was released. The Pro model was essentially a slightly upgraded OnePlus 7 Pro, while the standard OnePlus 7T represented a huge step up.
Between the 90 Hz OLED screen, the flexible triple rear camera setup, and the hefty built-ins, there was a lot to like when the phone was released. But is it still worth buying today? We asked that question Android Authority Reader, and you thought so.
Is it still worth buying the OnePlus 7T?
Results
We asked this question on October 11th, and at the time of writing, it had 3,862 votes. The results clearly show that well over 90% of those surveyed are of the opinion that the OnePlus 7T is still worth buying in 2020. A little more than six percent were of the opinion that the OnePlus 7T is not worth buying.
It’s easy to see why the vast majority of respondents continue to support the OnePlus 7T. The late 2019 flagship features an older but still powerful Snapdragon 855 Plus processor and a high refresh rate OLED screen that continues to provide a smooth experience.
Another important aspect of the 7T cap is the triple rear camera with main, ultra wide angle and telephoto lenses. In the meantime, the OnePlus 8 and 8T completely lack a telephoto lens, which theoretically leads to enlarged, lower quality images. While these phones have a dedicated macro camera, the 7T can take macro shots via the ultra-wide camera anyway.
Nevertheless, the 2020 OnePlus flagships offer 5G across the board as well as a more powerful chipset. The 8T in particular also has a 120 Hz OLED panel for a smoother paper experience.
Your comments
- Rotimi Ade: Since buying it in October 2018, I’ve still rocked my oneplus 6 as my daily driver. My experience with the oneplus 6 has been very satisfactory to this day. I feel like I have a year or two left to use it as my daily driver.
- Mohd Dawood: Realme X2 Pro is better and cheaper than 7t
- Omar’s Leaks: I still use a OnePlus 7t; The only problem is the battery life.
- Nikolas Spiridakis: I bought a used 7t 8/256 for 380 euros this summer and it’s my first flagship. So far, I think it’s a really nice phone and I think it’s worth buying for this price
- EA It’s in the game !: My concern is software updates, not just Android 11, but security patches as well. OP is working very slowly on this aspect.
- Ali Marwan: So no one is going to talk about the old security updates?
