Most of you plan to upgrade to Windows 11
Microsoft unveiled Windows 11 last month and is showing a Windows update with a new coat of paint and other welcome features. Between Android app support, the Snap Layouts feature, and improved virtual desktops, there are some great inclusions here.
Still, a major Windows update is hardly a guarantee that consumers will upgrade. After all, we’ve seen users hold back from upgrading their version of Windows for a variety of reasons. Nevertheless we asked Android authority Readers whether they were planning to upgrade to Windows 11. Here’s what you told us.

Results
After the poll was published on Monday 5th July, a total of over 3,800 votes were cast. And the results show that nearly two-thirds of those surveyed are actually planning to upgrade to Windows 11 to get the latest and greatest platform updates. On top of that, the new Windows upgrade actually brings with it some great features.
Nearly 20% of surveyed readers said they plan to upgrade but their PCs are not compatible. You’d think that consumers would hold on to their PCs longer, resulting in this option potentially having more votes. On the other hand, we saw a significant increase in PC shipments worldwide in 2020 and 2021 as the trend towards home work exploded during the pandemic. Some readers also point out in the comments that they are part of the Windows Insider Program and are allowed to install previews on their unsupported computers for the time being.
Finally, 17.7% of respondents say they are not planning on upgrading to Windows 11 at all. We have seen this trend with previous Windows upgrades, due to incompatibility issues to performance issues. Still, if it’s not broken, right?

- Eric Pearson: I already updated with the Dev Insider Preview. It’s pretty nice. Hasn’t crashed yet, but has had a few slowdowns and glitches. The overall look and aesthetics are nice.

- OnAnIsland: Personally, I’m fed up with Windows 10 always being half finished and the other Windows apps not working. Then I switched to the Microsoft browser and got targeted ads on Facebook and phone calls about a construction project that I was negotiating. The disclosure on the Facebook app clearly stated that the information is from the Microsoft browser and if I felt there was a conflict of interest it would stop. Damn it, it was harassment and it was illegal. I won’t be using a Microsoft product until the end of the year.
- Rui Rego: Now using 11; D Developer Insider. It’s a work in progress, but it’s okay!
- Techngro: I’m not sure I’ll upgrade. Once the RTM is out, I’ll be testing it in a virtual machine for a while. But I’ll probably stick with Windows 10 for the foreseeable future. The only thing that would make me switch immediately would be if the Windows subsystem for Android is as good as the Windows subsystem for Linux.
- Bermuda option: I have insiders so I’m thinking of getting them. However, my computer is not compatible with the official version so if I like it a lot it gives me an excuse to update my computer, I suppose.
- James Mansell: Runs really well on my Surface Pro 6. A few slowdowns here and there, but nothing big and no crashes
