Here’s a clever addition for Mophie, a long-time battery case maker that’s now part of the same smartphone accessories conglomerate as Zagg, Braven, iFrogz, and InvisibleShield. The Juice Pack Connect is a modular version of the category with a battery that can be turned on and off.
For $ 80, you can get a 5,400 mAh battery (which should give you plenty of extra charging time) and a ring stand to support the phone. Mophie may offer additional models at some point, but right now, the biggest selling point is less about add-ons and more about allowing you to pull the battery out of the device when not in use and keep using the case.
It’s not entirely different from the UniVERSE modular case that OtterBox introduced a few years ago. The big advantage here, however, is that charging is done via Qi, so you don’t have to plug it into the phone line.
It’s not cheap (Mophie generally isn’t). And no, it’s not a MagSafe accessory. Instead, the add-on will be attached to your suitcase with glue (needs to be thin enough to help it charge). The upside is that it works with a much larger number of phones including multiple generations of iPhones and wireless cell phones like Samsung Galaxies and Google Pixel.
