Mobvoi TicWatch Pro X launches in China with smarter dual screen setup
TL; DR
- Mobvoi has launched a new Wear OS smartwatch in China.
- The TicWatch Pro X shares many of the specifications with the Pro 3, but adds extra flair.
- Prices start at ~ $ 370.
Mobvoi has launched a new smartwatch for its audience in China. The TicWatch Pro X uses a formula we’ve seen on previous family watches, but brings a few more shrewdness to the table.
The TicWatch Pro X has a 1.39-inch dial that houses two superimposed displays. It’s a nifty trick that massively improves battery life. The watch uses the 454 x 454 AMOLED screen for more detailed statistics, app usage and navigation. The color backlit FSTN-LCD takes over tasks with low power consumption and offers basic information displays. Depending on which screen you use more often, the battery life can scale between four and 45 days. That’s pretty impressive considering the power struggles that other Wear OS devices are facing.
Internally, the TicWatch Pro X is almost identical to the TicWatch Pro 3. It packs the Snapdragon 4100 SoC with 1 GB of RAM and 8 GB of storage. There is also LTE and NFC support. Users get access to 20+ sports tracking functions, while the Pro X also includes an SpO2 sensor and a heart rate monitor with arrhythmia alerts. The case of the watch is also waterproof to IP68, which makes it suitable for swimmers, while the built-in GPS appeals to runners and outdoor enthusiasts.
There is a small caveat. Those who hope this will be Mobvoi’s first Wear OS 3 smartwatch will be disappointed. While Wear OS runs on the Pro X, it’s not the latest version used by the Fossil Gen 6 or Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 series. The TicWatch Pro 3 in particular is slated to be updated sometime in 2022, so it wouldn’t be surprising if the Pro X were included in this rollout.
TicWatch Pro X pricing and availability
Mobvoi’s latest wearable is available from JD.com starting at 2,399 yuan (~ $ 371). This is slightly more expensive than the local 1,999 yuan list for the TicWatch Pro 3. It is not yet known whether or when the TicWatch Pro X will be available in other markets.
