- Mint Mobile will increase data quotas for all subscription levels starting next week.
- This data jump is free for new or current users.
- Actor Ryan Reynolds, who owns a large stake in the company, announced the change in another goofy video.
MVNO carrier Mint Mobile today announced a restructuring of its data plans. Contrary to the common trend of companies asking for more money for less value, MM offers more to its customers. Now all subscribers get more data with their plans.
From January 28th (one day before the Galaxy S21 series happens to hit shelves) the data increases will take effect. Users on the 3 GB plan will now get 4 GB of data. The 8 GB plan is increased to 10 GB, and the 12 GB plan is now the 15 GB plan.
The prices for all plans remain the same. That’s $ 15, $ 20, and $ 25 a month.

In a tradition, actor Ryan Reynolds announced the news in a fun commercial. Reynolds, who has a major stake in the company, briefly explains how much money AT&T and Verizon spend on political contributions. He then complains that Mint Mobile does not spend anything on politics.
To correct this, the company issues a check for $ 15 to the Mayor of Idyllwild, CA: a dog named Max. Yes, you read that right – the Mayor of Idyllwild is a dog, and Mint Mobile has him just made a $ 15 political contribution.
The Mayor’s full name is Maximus Mighty-Dog Mueller II. You can read all about this good boy on his Wikipedia page.
