- Micromax has released two IN series phones aimed at budget buyers.
- The Micromax IN Note 1 and IN 1b are designed to compete with budget phones like Redmi and Realme.
- They will go on sale on November 24th.
Micromax, the Indian native smartphone company, is making further efforts to regain its lost glory. The brand was once at the forefront of the Indian smartphone market but has since been wiped out by Samsung, Xiaomi, Vivo, and others.
Today Micromax announced its new IN series smartphones – IN Note 1 and IN 1b – specifically for Chinese smartphone players. The two phones are powered by Mediatek chipsets, run Android 10 with the promise of two major OS upgrades, and each have a large 5,000 mAh battery.
With the MediaTek Helio G85 chipset and a 6.7-inch FHD + IPS LCD display, the Micromax IN Note 1 is the premium version of the two. The phone has a quad camera configuration consisting of a 48-megapixel main camera, a 5-megapixel wide-angle sensor, a 2-megapixel macro lens, and a 2-megapixel depth sensor. There is a 16-megapixel selfie shooter on the front.
In contrast, the Micromax IN 1b is powered by the MediaTek Helio G35 chip and has a 6.5-inch HD display. It only has two rear shooters – 13MP + 2MP and an 8MP selfie camera.
Both phones have a dedicated Google Assistant button and a 3.5mm headphone jack. They also get a USB-C port and support fast charging with up to 18 W.
Price and availability of the Micromax IN series
Micromax is relying heavily on the current anti-China sentiment in India to promote these phones, which are claimed to be locally designed and manufactured. It’s a bit ironic that the back of the green-hued Micromax IN Note 1 bears an uncanny resemblance to the Honor 9X. Nonetheless, Micromax faces a major challenge as the targeted price segment is currently dominated by Redmi and Realme.
The price for the Micromax IN Note 1 is Rs 10,999 (~ $ 148) for the version with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage and Rs12,999 (~ $ 174) for the 4GB + 128GB model. Meanwhile, the Micromax IN 1b costs Rs 7,999 (~ $ 107) for 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of storage and Rs 6,999 (~ $ 94) for 2 GB of RAM and 32 GB of storage. Both phones will be available on Flipkart from November 24th.
