Mi 11 Lite lists on FCC website, could ditch 5G connectivity
- Xiaomi is preparing the launch of the Mi 11 Lite.
- The phone is listed on the FCC website.
- It could affect 5G connectivity.
Xiaomi seems to be preparing a cheaper phone in the Mi 11 series, but unlike its flagship cousin, the new model may not have 5G connectivity. The phone was recently listed on the FCC website with the model number M2101K9AG. People at XDA developer were able to reference the IMEIs in the filing to show the phone is labeled as the Mi 11 Lite.
The FCC list confirms that the Mi 11 Lite will accommodate a 4,150 mAh battery with 33 W fast charge, MIUI 12, 6 GB of RAM and 64 GB / 128 GB of storage. No other specs are mentioned, but a Vietnamese YouTuber claims to know that the phone runs on the Snapdragon 732G chipset.
Confirmation of this information, XDA reports that the Mi 11 Lite is codenamed “Courbet” and is based on the Snapdragon SM7150 platform according to a recent leak. This means that the device could have either one of the chips – Snapdragon 730, 730G, or 732G – in the series.
It is also possible that the phone will be launched as a Poco device in some markets. A previous leak suggested that “Courbet” might actually be the Poco F2. No wonder, since most of the Poco phones are being renamed or repackaged as Xiaomi devices.
What’s strange is that Xiaomi would reject 5G for the 2021 Lite model of its flagship, given that last year’s Mi 10 Lite is a 5G-enabled device with the Snapdragon 765G on board. However, it is very likely that the company will have both 4G and 5G versions of the phone this time around.
Elsewhere, the device is said to contain a 64-megapixel primary camera, a 16-megapixel selfie shooter and a 120 Hz display. We would take this information with a pinch of salt as it does not come from known sources.
