Mega-cheap Walmart Android TV streamers land June 7

End of May, a Twitter account with eagle eyes focused on Android TV rumors, spotted some new entries on Walmart’s website. The listings were for the supposedly ultra-cheap Android TV streamers that we’ve talked about a couple of times now.

Today, TechCrunch received official confirmation from a Walmart representative that the listings were real – they just started earlier than planned. The same representative confirmed that both Walmart Android TV streamers will land in stores and online on June 7, 2021.

Connected: The best media streaming devices you can buy

Most of the rumors we’ve heard so far have been confirmed by these listings. The key piece of information is that there are two streamers: one locked to 1080p and another that supports 4K. Each comes with a remote control developed by Google (the G10), support for the Google Assistant, and dedicated buttons for YouTube, Netflix, Disney Plus, and HBO Max. The scope of delivery includes an HDMI extender, an A / C adapter, batteries for the remote control and a USB to micro USB cable.

The most important aspect of the devices, however, is the price. The 1080p model costs just $ 24.88, while the 4K model is only nominally more expensive at $ 29.88. This means that the two devices are currently the cheapest ways to enjoy Android TV. It also makes them very competitive against other streamers at this price point from Roku and Amazon.
