Marvel’s Spider-Man followup on PS5 features Miles Morales
Marvel’s Spider-Man was arguably the best superhero video game since Batman: Arkham Asylum. Given the commercial and critical success of this 2018 game, you had to know that a sequel was in the works. At his Future of gaming event On Thursday, Sony announced a sequel to Spider-Man: Miles Morales, which will be released for the coming year PlayStation 5.
You can see the trailer below.
Simon Rutter, head of Sony’s European business, told the Telegraph that it would be “an expansion and improvement of the previous game” and not a full sequel, said Simon Rutter, head of Sony’s European business, the Telegraph.
Sony clarified later Miles’ adventure will be an “independent game”.
This series of Spider-Man games isn’t actually tied to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, though Spider-Man has appeared in MCU films like Avengers: Endgame. Sony has the Spider-Man character that has led to all sorts of results Complications for his role in Disney’s own MCU films.
Spider-Man for Sony’s PlayStation is separate from all of this – and still offers one of the best superhero video games ever. The successors are certainly in high demand. I can’t wait to see Spider-Man play on the brand new next generation PS5.
The original from 2018 left us with many unresolved storylines for the sequel. Beware SPOILER if you haven’t finished the first game. The original eventually reveals that Norman Osborn was secretly looking for a cure for his son Harry’s deadly genetic disorder. At the end we see Harry floating in a tank filled with green liquid and a black net-like substance that responds to Norman’s presence – probably the version of this universe of the Venom symbiote.
Norman and Harry both become Green Goblin in the comics and films, so the Osborns have plenty of options for super villains.
At the end of the three-episode DLC expansion The City That Never Sleeps, Peter Parker begins training a new spider Miles Morales in the art of web slinging – possibility that indicates that Miles is playable in the sequel or that Peter will pass the baton on to Miles somewhere later.
Clarification, June 12: Spider-Man: Miles Morales is more of an expansion than a sequel.
