Marvel’s Avengers is coming to PS5 and Xbox Series X this holiday season
The upcoming Marvel’s Avengers game caused some controversy when it was announced at E3. Mainly because the Avengers video game doesn’t look like the MCU Avengers that we know and love. Nevertheless, there is still a lot of interest.
There is now another reason to get excited about the game: Marvel’s Avengers doesn’t just go to current generation consoles like the PS4 and Xbox One. Square Enix has announced that it will be released on next generation consoles PS5 and Xbox Series X.when they are released this holiday season.
But that’s another problem. Marvel’s Avengers is expected to be released on September 4th, most likely a few months before the next generation consoles are released. If you choose to play the game on launch day, you may be hampering the ability to play the game on PS5 or Xbox Series X with higher fidelity.
Fortunately, Sony has announced that those who buy the game on PS4 will automatically receive the game for free on PS5 if they choose to upgrade to the next generation console. Gary Snethen, chief technology officer at Crystal Dynamics – the team that develops the game – announced the news on the PlayStation blog.
“At Crystal Dynamics we are gamers and we have a gamer-first mentality,” wrote Snethen. “We want to make it easy for Marvel’s Avengers players to take advantage of the additional features of PS5.
“We are therefore pleased to announce this when buying Marvel’s Avenger For the PS4 platform, either digital or on disc, and later for an upgrade to a PS5, you get the PS5 version of the game with all its improvements for free! “
With the PlayStation 5 version, players can customize their experience and choose between an advanced graphics mode or a high frame rate mode. Other Sony titles like God of War offer this feature on the PlayStation 4 Pro (always with the improved frame rate folks!).
Marvel’s Avengers hits stores on September 4th. PS5 and Xbox Series X don’t have a release date right now, but both are expected this Christmas.
