The debate between Android phone and iPhone never ends. Every year, both platforms compete for supremacy by offering the latest hardware and software features to attract users. However, jumping from one operating system to another is not often the case. There are several factors behind this, including user interface comfort, loyalty, habitual behavior, openness of Android versus the limitations of iOS, availability of apps, specs, price and more. But what if someone gives you a free iPhone? Would you retire your Android phone and ignore all of these considerations?
We asked you this question in our survey and here is how you responded.

24.37% of nearly 11,000 voters immediately agreed to retire their Android phones for a new, free iPhone. These people may have older Android phones that may need an upgrade. It’s also possible that they’re stuck with an Android phone because iPhones are generally less affordable or just want to experience something different.
Meanwhile, a large proportion – 32.9% of respondents – said that depending on the model of the latter, they might consider switching from their Android phone to the free iPhone.
Combine those votes and nearly 56% of voters are showing willingness to go for a free iPhone and retire their Android phones.
However, if you just look at the survey results, it’s not surprising that a majority of you (42.6%) don’t fall for the free iPhone trap. Your Android phones are way too precious to you and you will stick with them regardless of the free iPhone offer.

Peter Colpaert: I would sell the iPhone to a fan boy / girl / girl / person and use the money for a much cooler Android phone.
Zarkman: Android is junk. Apple is worth more than all of your Android companies put together for a reason. It’s called supply and demand. People demand superior products, and Apple delivers them.
Jacob Stutzman: I literally just did that. I received a free iphone to add a line to. Sold it 2 days later and grabbed a OnePlus 9 for what I sold the iPhone for. It worked out great.
Ryan: I got two iPhones at work, sold both, and will be upgrading to something else soon.

Ant_B: I love Apple as much as Android. Both platforms kept my interest in technology alive for years. It’s just that I prefer Android for my use case. Neither is perfect, nor is it complete rubbish.
Richard Durishin: Are you replacing my productivity machine (Surface Duo) or my sound connection (V60)? No way.
Steve: I already have an iPhone 12 Pro. They couldn’t pay me to use an Android again. How many different brands are using their operating system and Apple is still kicking everyone’s ass. There’s a good reason almost every TV show and movie presents their phones, laptops, etc. as Apple products because they are the gold standard. They just make expensive, high-end gear, whether it’s a MacBook Pro, AirPods, etc, not like the cheap entry-level crap the Android companies make.
DBS: To see how nondescript Samsung’s S20 and S21 line of products has gotten, and how Android’s user interface evolves with Android 12 … Yeah, I’m probably closer to moving to an iPhone than ever before. If my S10e were dead and I got a 12 Mini that was 512GB (because it lacks expandable storage which I don’t want to give up or pay for additional internal storage) I would consider this.
TeeRoy Woodfin: If someone gave me an iPhone, or if I won an iPhone in a competition, I would sell it. I wouldn’t care if it was an IPhone 12, 13 or 20. IPhones are boring and have too many proprietary restrictions.
Kelvin K. Martin: Android is so much better than the iPhone. There is so much more you can do with the Android operating system. You can download your music in torrents. You can download movies, jailbreak your phone to run the latest Android software, and the security is second to none. I definitely wouldn’t take my iPhone out of use.
Dw: I’m about to buy a new iPhone. Giving me one would only make the deal sweeter. Android phones are big and clunky, and download a lot more data from me than Apple. Kudos to the iPhones for asking me if I want to stop sharing unique identifiers with Facebook – and yes, I would.
Colin Hendrickson: Only if it was the 12 Pro Max with 512 GB of storage. Then my Note 10 5G could move.
Marcus: I would use both of them together. Experience the best of both worlds. But of course my Android phone would be my main phone.
Mega DP: The only reason I’d jump to Apple is their stance on privacy and the most recent middle finger they’ve given social networks. If Google did the same, it wouldn’t even be a debate.
Alfi Shaikh: I was only able to exchange my flagship Andriod 5G S20 or S21 for an iPhone 12. No other iPhone. iPhone 11 or lower series are no comparison for the 2021 flagship Android phone.
Mike Solòrzano: I would like to switch, I love Android, don’t get me wrong, especially because I have a Huawei phone, but I can’t afford to have a Samsung or an iPhone and I would like to start over and see That iOS has to offer, since I’ve never used it, I hope you can give me a gift haha.
