Listing suggests Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 to launch with Watch Active 4

Samsung plans to launch its next flagship line of portable wearers later this year. We’ve already seen that a Finnish certification company recently spilled some of the beans. Now a listing is on China’s 3C site (h / t MyFixGuide) shared some more details about the Galaxy Watch 4.

The listing suggests that the Galaxy Watch 4 series (model numbers SM-R880 and SM-R890) will arrive along with the Galaxy Watch Active 4. While the listing does not mention the latter by name, it is widely believed that the SM-R860 and SM-R870 are the closest Active watches. If you’re wondering why there are four model numbers, Samsung seems likely to be launching the two models in two sizes.

What else do we know about the Galaxy Watch 4?

As for specs, not much is mentioned about the two devices other than charging speed. The Galaxy Watch 4 and the alleged Galaxy Watch Active 4 support charging with 5 W, in line with the previous models.

There is one notable omission, however. No charger is mentioned in the certification. The chargers may go through in a separate listing; However, there is also the possibility that Samsung will not include chargers in the packaging.

While it can make sense to leave out the chargers for smartphones like the Galaxy S21, for a wearable device it is a risky move. While smartphone chargers are generally interchangeable, portable chargers and charging stations are a bit more complicated.

It’s also possible that Samsung could reuse the chargers from the previous Galaxy Watch line. Anyway, it’s too early to confirm Samsung’s plans. Once the devices go through another certification authority, we may get a clearer picture. For now, you might want to keep your Galaxy Watch 3 or Galaxy Watch Active 2 chargers.
