  • Verizon will sell the LG Wing for $ 1,000 when it launches October 15.
  • Pre-orders start October 1st.
  • It is the first US carrier to set a release date for the rotating phone.

No longer do you have to wonder when you can get your hands on the LG Wing, although you may have to be picky about the carrier. Verizon (Disclaimer: This author also writes for Verizon Engadget) announced a release date for the LG Wing on October 15 for a price of $ 1,000 upfront, or $ 41.66 per month for a two-year payment plan.

Pre-orders for the unique rotating phone will start on October 1st. On Verizon, it will support the provider’s fast but tricky 5G Ultra Wideband as well as the lower frequency 5G Ultra standard introduced later in 2020. You can get a $ 250 virtual gift card when you buy a Wing and switch to the company. or up to $ 750 if you add a line when trading on an eligible device ($ 500 for existing customers).

The functionality is otherwise known – in relative terms. The LG Wing doesn’t offer much performance for the price with its Snapdragon 765G chip (like the Velvet) and 8GB of RAM, but its display technology is a different story. You get a 6.8 “main 1080p OLED display that swivels to display a 3.9” secondary OLED screen for multitasking. You can watch a video in full quality while checking your social feed, for example.

You also get 128 GB of expandable storage. You’ll also find a 64-megapixel main camera, a 13-megapixel ultra-wide, and a 32-megapixel selfie sensor. The real highlight, however, may be a 12-megapixel ultra-wide gimbal camera on the back that lets you capture action-packed videos.

AT&T and T-Mobile are also expected to wear the LG Wing, although they haven’t yet announced prices or release dates. If you’re interested in Verizon, wait and see if there are any potential deals. The $ 1,000 price point isn’t as extravagant as folding phones like the Galaxy Z Fold 2 or the Razr 5G, but it might be worth buying.
