TL; DR
- A full unboxing video of LG Velvet 2 Pro has appeared on the internet.
- The phone appears to be an evolution of the original LG Velvet with better specs.
LG closed its cellular division while the next line of smartphones was in active development. While these devices are never released en masse, LG sold a limited number of employees. Now a new video has appeared on YouTube in which the LG Velvet 2 Pro is being unpacked.
The video comes from the Korean channel Phonehub (h / t @FrontTron), gives us a better look at LG 2021’s unreleased flagship and confirms several specs and features.
Starting with the main box, it contains two cases and a cable, but no charger. A second box contains a charger and an additional cable, but it’s unclear whether LG wanted to sell the phone with two boxes.
As for the phone itself, the design of the Velvet 2 Pro is reminiscent of that of its predecessor. On the back, the most noticeable difference is the prominence of the three “water droplets” camera bumps. While only one of the original LG Velvet cameras protruded from the case, all three do it on the Velvet 2 Pro. The backplate is also apparently made of glass.
On the front, the main change is a punch-hole selfie camera instead of a notch, while the side of the Velvet 2 Pro features push-pad buttons instead of volume buttons with a power button on top. There is a USB-C port and speaker grille on the bottom of the phone, but no headphone jack.
LG Velvet 2 Pro: Technical Specifications
Phonehub also confirms the specs that were previously leaked. A Snapdragon 888 SoC supplies the LG Velvet 2 Pro with 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of UFS 3.1 storage. There’s also a 120 Hz 6.8-inch 20: 9 display, an in-display fingerprint sensor, and a 64 MP primary Sony sensor on the back, along with an ultra-wide-angle and a 3-way Telephoto shooter. A 4,500mAh battery supplies the device with power.
It’s unclear how much LG would have asked consumers about the Velvet 2 Pro, but given the specs, we’re imagining a little more than the original Velvet. Would you have bought it Vote in our poll above and leave a comment below.
