LG appears to be undecided about the fate of its much-anticipated rollable phone. According to the Korea Heraldthe company said Friday that it is still working on the device but has not made detailed plans for its launch.
LG recently flaunted the rollable phone at CES and indicated that it was ready to announce it. Soon after the show, however, rumors began to spread that the company was selling its wireless business. Nothing has been confirmed yet, but LG is reportedly considering all options.
LG also apparently said that the mobile phone was “open to any possibility”.
Some local industry insiders told the Korean outlet that LG may ditch the rollable project altogether so as not to repeat the Wing smartphone failure. The swivel device was a great attempt at developing a new form factor, but its sales have reportedly been bombed, at least in its home country.
We haven’t heard from LG directly so we’ll just have to wait and see what the company decides.
