Lenovo’s next gaming phone is coming soon, here’s what we hope to see

Lenovo entered the gaming phone arena last summer with its Legion Phone Duel. It packed everything we could want into a gaming phone – a huge battery, lots of RAM, and an impressive display. Now is the time to continue. Lenovo has only released a few teasers so far, and the few additional details we received as part of an Android-based partnership made us even more excited to see what can actually be seen on the next Legion gaming phone.

We already learned a little about Lenovo’s Advanced Technology Architecture (ATA), which appears to be the company’s design philosophy for the next-generation Legion Phone Duel. The goal is to better coordinate the processor and cooling elements on the phone for maximum performance. This suggests that the next generation Legion Phone Duel doesn’t compromise on specs, which is exactly what we love to hear.
Qualcomm’s top performing option when launching the original Legion Phone Duel was the Snapdragon 865 Plus chip – a bold move on board at the time. Most of the new flagship devices we’ve seen so far this year feature Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 888 chip. Based on the hints on social media so far, Lenovo’s next Legion gaming phone looks promising as well.
As the new star of the show, Qualcomm’s flagship chip Snapdragon 888 should offer the best gaming performance on the market. Curious to see if Lenovo later decides to add a powerful midrange phone to its Legion family.
Lenovo’s original Legion Phone Duel also came with up to 16 GB of RAM and up to 512 GB of storage. We should expect similar options this time around, ready for all of your favorite games.
Impressive cooling technology

Gaming phones, like gaming PCs, tend to get hot under pressure. The more action you see in the game, the harder your phone will have to work to keep up. So we suspect Lenovo has something smart up its sleeve. So far, the company has hinted at a “twin turbo” setup where the phone will appear to contain two powerful fans.
A disadvantage with some PC fans is that they tend to be noisy. So it will be interesting to see how Lenovo handles this once we can get our hands on the product. You don’t want a phone that sounds like a jet engine taking off. So maybe Lenovo has more than two fans in a row.

A full day battery
With all of this supposedly “smarter” hardware working overtime to power and cool such a powerful 5G phone, a large battery is a must to be able to play for hours from anywhere.
Lenovo’s original Legion Phone Duel came with a huge 5,000mAh battery and an incredible 90W fast charge for the highest spec model. There’s always a chance Lenovo could add an even bigger battery to its new next-gen Legion phone, and it would be nice to see the fastest charge hit all models. Lenovo seems to be leaning on the fact that this is the second gaming phone. So maybe we’ll see an upgraded version of the twin battery from the Legion Phone Duel?
If Lenovo sticks to the dual battery design, a second USB-C charging port can go a long way. You can keep charging your phone without ever leaving your favorite games. Because the less time you plug it in, the better.
A large, fluid display
When you’ve all charged and ready to play for hours, you should have a stunning screen. Small, dull screens don’t attract users. Until we are shown an example unit, let’s just hope for a large, bright panel for the next Legion phone. The first Legion Phone Duel set the bar pretty high with a razor-sharp refresh rate of 144 Hz and Full HD + resolution. We’re not sure if Lenovo has made an even faster refresh rate, but we don’t expect the phone to get any smaller.
The Lenovo Legion Phone Duel came with a 6.65-inch AMOLED display that was optimized for horizontal use. After all, few, if any, people play vertically. We expect this game-centric user interface to continue with uniquely designed game themes that align with landscape mode and resonate with gamers.
Even more quality of play
Our unique Advanced Technology Architecture (ATA) is simply better.

Game phones, like gaming PCs, are unmistakable. They are characterized by a completely unique design with many carbon fiber details and futuristic shapes. The Legion Phone Duel was available in the colors Vengeance Red and Blazing Blue when it was first released. Perhaps Lenovo will take a similar approach this time around.
Gaming controllers also have distinctive buttons and triggers to keep you up to date. Hopefully Lenovo can find a way to incorporate more advanced controls into the new Legion phone. We may also see a new version of the side-mounted popup selfie camera. It’s one of the Legion Phone Duel’s most unique features, and it worked impressively well the first time around.
We can sit here all day and guess what Lenovo has in store to fill in the gaps with what’s missing, but we just have to wait and see. The company keeps giving clues about its social issues so we’ll share them with you as soon as we learn more.
