Lenovo’s new Smart Clock 2 can wirelessly charge your phone
TL; DR
- Lenovo has introduced a Smart Clock 2 that can wirelessly charge your phone.
- The included dock also gives you a soft night light.
- Lenovo will ship the Google Assistant display in September for $ 89.99.
How does Lenovo improve the smart clock when it is ultimately a no-frills Google Assistant device for the bedroom? By apparently adding some of the other features you want on your bedside table. The company has unveiled a Smart Clock 2 that can wirelessly charge your phone, among other things.
Plug the Lenovo watch into the included dock and you’ll get a pad to charge your phone overnight. It may seem redundant, but it ensures that your partner can still check the time and talk to Google when you take your phone out of the room. It even supports 7.5W and 10W charging, so you can charge many Android phones and iPhones as quickly as possible.

The watch also includes a soft, dim night light to help you find your way around without waking your partner, Lenovo said.
Otherwise, Lenovo offers a modest update with the Smart Clock 2. You get a 4-inch LCD, 3W speaker system, and a humble MediaTek MT8167S chip with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of storage. As with the Google Nest Hub, there is no camera (supposedly for privacy reasons) and the microphone is muted.
The Lenovo Smart Clock 2 will be available with the dock in September for $ 89.99. That’s $ 10 more than the original watch and significantly more than the $ 50 Smart Clock Essential, but the company is clearly betting it’s worth it if you don’t have to buy two or three separate devices.
