- OnePlus will reportedly ditch the OnePlus 8T Pro in favor of a standard model.
- This would be the first time since the OnePlus 6T from 2018 that we don’t see a Pro variant.
OnePlus has released a Standard and Pro flagship for OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7 Pro since the beginning of 2019. That trend has continued since then, with the OnePlus 7T and OnePlus 8 being joined by Pro variants.
Now the frequent tipster Max J Approved on Twitter that this trend will come to an end with the upcoming OnePlus 8T. Check out his tweet below.

In the event that the tweet is too cryptic for you, the OnePlus 8T is said to have the code name “Kebab”. OnePlus also tends to put a “b” at the end of a code name to denote a variant (e.g. kebabb). Since then, however, the tipster has made it clear that they are using the name “kebab2” to simplify matters. This means you can’t expect a OnePlus 8T Pro.

This would therefore be the first OnePlus flagship since the OnePlus 6T from 2018, which lacks a Pro variant. The OnePlus 6T was also available in a McLaren variant with a faster loading process and more RAM.
Still, it then raises questions about the price and features of the OnePlus 8T. One recently Android Central Leaks on a 120 Hz screen like the OnePlus 8 Pro, but unlike the Pro variant, it seems like the new device lacks a tele-shooter. There’s also no word on IP rating or wireless charging.
It looks like OnePlus is getting a lot of consumers happy with a phone. The company is faced with the task of either taking the cheaper route than previous vanilla models or making the OnePlus 8T a premium offer like the Pro variants.
