Attention video quality snobs on a budget: the best 65 inch TV without OLED I checked last year TCL’s 8er Roku TVis available today through Sunday, July 5th, at Best Buy for $ 1,000.

And if 65 inches is not big enough there is one 75 inch version for sale for $ 1,800. Both are the lowest prices I’ve ever seen for this TV. You can certainly pay a lot less for TVs that big, but you won’t get anywhere near that picture quality.

If you’ve never heard of the 8 Series, it’s a tour de force of display technology. It is the only television on the market that uses a full array local dimming backlight Mini LED technologyThis provides excellent brightness and deep black levels that no other LCD TV can offer. In my side-by-side comparison between him and competing high-end TVs from 2019, namely the one Vizio P series Quantum X. and Samsung Q80RThe TCL performed better overall. The only TVs I’ve seen with a better picture are OLED models like the LG B9that cost almost twice as much.

Both 8-series televisions were last available in May and June at the same price as part of a daily sale. According to Best Buy, the savings for the 65-inch version are “$ 1,000 discount”, but this refers to the original MSRP of $ 2,000. The savings are actually $ 600 based on the normal retail price of $ 1,600. The savings for the 75-inch model? A $ 1,200 discount based on the MSRP of $ 3,000 or $ 900 off the normal retail price. In any case, this sale means a deep discount for both sizes.

The fine print from TCL: “These offers are only valid in BestBuy.com and Best Buy branches in the USA until 11:59 p.m. CST of the respective day, online and until the branches are closed while supplies last.”
