Kandji hauls in $21M Series A as Apple device management flourishes during pandemic – ProWellTech
Kandji, an MDM (Mobile Device Management) startup that launched last October. That said, attempts were made to build the early-stage company, just like the pandemic earlier this year. In this environment, however, a company that remotely managed devices was needed. A $ 21 million Series A series was announced today.
Greycroft led the round with the participation of the new investors Okta Ventures and B Capital Group as well as the existing investor First Round Capital. Today’s investment brings in a total of $ 28.4 million, according to the company.
What Kandji is building is an advanced zero-touch device management solution that allows larger businesses to manage their fleet of Apple devices, including compliance with certain rules. As CEO and co-founder Adam Pettit ProWellTech said at the time of his seed investment last year:
“We’re the only product that has nearly 200 of these one-click policy frameworks, which we call parameters. A company can look for compliance frameworks or pre-made templates for companies that don’t necessarily have a specific compliance mandate in mind, ”he said.
Monty Gray, SVP for Business Development Octa, According to Okta Ventures, the company invests because it sees this approach as a valuable addition to the company’s mission.
“Kandji’s device management optimizes the most common and complex tasks for Apple IT administrators and distributed employees enable quick and secure commissioning, ”he said in a statement.
It seems to work. Since the company launched last year, it has reportedly gained hundreds of new paying customers and has grown from 10 employees at launch to 40 today. Pettit says he has plans to triple that number in the next 12 months. As he builds the company, he says finding and hiring a diverse pool of candidates is an important goal.
“There are ways to expand into different pools of candidates so that you don’t just look at the same old candidates as you normally would. There are certain ways to reduce the bias in the hiring process. I think we are absolutely critical of this and look forward to building a really diverse company over the next few years, ”he said.
He notes that the investment will allow him not only to build the employee base, but also to expand the product. It was already carried over from basic MDM to compliance last year, and new features will be added as they continue to grow the product.
“If someone saw our product a year ago, it is a very different product today and it allowed us to move the market into the company, which was very exciting for us,” he said.
