June 2021 Android security patch available for Pixel phones

It may be a little late compared to the previous months, but Google finally released the June 2021 Android security update for the Pixel 3 and newer Pixel phones.

According to Google, this update contains “several fixes and improvements in many areas, including performance, stability, battery and more”. Pixel 4a 5G and Pixel 5 owners should see fixes for a notification sound fluctuation bug, as well as a fix that resulted in videos not playing in some third-party apps. Another bug fix addresses an issue that caused some Pixel phones to stop charging using an unnamed wireless charger. Check out the source link above to learn more about the other bug fixes.

The June 2021 security update will be released along with a major Pixel feature update. This adds features like Astrolapse, which allows users to record the night sky in detail, as well as the locked folder security feature to protect photos with a passcode.

Pixel owners can download these new Android updates from June 2021 wirelessly to their cellular or WiFi network. However, the factory and OTA images are also available for immediate download and installation.
