Do you remember cinemas? Mostly I don’t either. When all the amphitheater-style COVID incubators were shut down earlier this year, Hollywood made some tough calls and started releasing movies through streaming services instead of waiting for a movie release. Jon Stewart’s political comedy Irresistible has just been treated digitally.
Irresistible sounds great on paper. Jon Stewart, everyone’s favorite news anchor, filmed this story about a dull campaign manager (Steve Carell) who helps a politically inexperienced former military candidate (Chris Cooper) compete against a Republican mayor (Brent Sexton) in a tight red town. That should be right in Jon Stewart’s wheelhouse, but early reviews weren’t particularly flattering.
Still, it could be a fun distraction from real politics. But before you take out your credit card, you should be aware that the rent is $ 20 everywhere.
