John Krasinski holds perfect virtual graduation featuring Oprah Winfrey
After smashing out of the park with one virtual prom, Episode 6 of Some good news focuses on another big day for students stuck at home: graduation. host John Krasinski brought a whirlwind of some of the biggest names in Hollywood to celebrate those who throw up their square caps from Dead Pool self, Ryan Reynolds and Oprah Winfrey.
Reynolds appeared in the weather service this week (jump to 5:45) and reported in detail: “It looks pretty good.”
In one of the best new segments, Samuel L. Jackson came in to compliment the people on the street (jump to 4:07).
Krasinski surprised Amanda Gorman, the first youth poet in the United States, and brought in a special guest, Winfrey (skip 13:38), for wise advice and to celebrate Gorman’s graduation at Harvard. Krasinski’s advice? “To achieve something one day would be great.”
Activist Malala Yousafzai was one of the big guests (until 12:38 p.m.), as were Jon Stewart (until 2:08 p.m.) and Steven Spielberg (until 2:20 p.m.).
The closing ceremony didn’t end there: elsewhere, Tom Hanks recorded a message for the Wright State graduates in Dayton, also known as “the chosen ones”.
