Jaws tops list of classic movies people wish they’d seen in the theater

Do you remember going to the cinema? As the theatrical chains prepare to reopen, some movie fans have named the film they would have loved to see in a crowded theater surrounded by people with a bucket of popcorn on their lap. War of stars? The exorcist? Nah. The worthy winner is Steven Spielberg’s 1975 Shark Attack shocker Jaws.

This is the result of a survey by the British online marketplace OnBuy. Jaws received 93% of the vote, but the original Star Wars film was only a mustache behind with 91%. You may have a strong opinion, but The Shining, The Lord of the Rings Trilogy, and The Princess Bride top off the top 5 in this survey.

There certainly seems to be a lot of nostalgia for the blockbuster era of the 1980s and 1990s that Jaws started. When it comes to the shared experience of gathering in front of a big screen, we clearly can’t get enough of sci-fi on a large budget and occasionally creepy horror – and it’s pretty clear that Spielberg is still considered the master of the world big display.
