- Poco India has teased the arrival of the Poco F2.
- This comes a few months after the company said a Poco F1 successor was in the works.
Still one of the most popular smartphones out there, the Poco F1 offers flagship performance for ~ $ 300 at launch. Unfortunately, the brand associated with Xiaomi has not offered anything like this since then. It has either launched mid-range phones at this tier or flagship devices like the Poco F2 Pro, which are significantly more expensive.
Poco confirmed back in October that it was working on a “true successor” to the Poco F1, and now teased the so-called Poco F2 on Twitter. The company posted a video highlighting its 2020 achievements, but also snuck into a reference to the Poco F2. Take a look at the screenshot below.
The company didn’t include any further details in the post, so we’re still in the dark about what to expect from the upcoming smartphone. Conventional wisdom suggests that a “true successor” to the Poco F1 will offer flagship performance at a similarly disruptive price. A lot has changed in the smartphone space, however, as 5G components, high-end silicon, high refresh rate screens, and multiple cameras all add to higher prices.
In other words, we assume that a flagship Poco F2 will likely be more expensive than the Poco F1. It’s also possible that Poco could achieve a similar price by making drastic cuts in other areas (e.g. design, screen, cameras) or by using medium-range silicon. If the latter is the case, is it really a real Poco F1 successor?
