iPhone users will receive iOS 15 update on September 20 – ProWellTech
Shortly after today’s virtual conference, Apple announced that the next major version of iOS would be ready for prime time very soon. iPhone users can upgrade to iOS 15 on September 20th. The company first introduced iOS 15 at its Worldwide Developer Conference earlier this year.
The biggest change in iOS 15 is a new Focus mode. In addition to Do Not Disturb, you can configure different modes – you can choose apps and people you want to receive notifications from, and change your focus based on what you’re doing. For example, you can create a work mode, a sleep mode, a training mode, and so on.
There are lots of new features across the board, like a new weather app, updated maps in Apple Maps, an improved version of FaceTime, and more. Safari also has a brand new look. It was a bit controversial at first. Since then, Apple has listened to feedback and improved its new version of Safari.
The new iOS version also scans your photos for text. This feature called Live Text allows you to highlight, copy, and paste text in photos. It could also be a nice accessibility feature. iOS will use this information for Spotlight. You can search for text in your photos directly in Spotlight and relevant photos will be displayed. These functions are processed directly on the device.
You can update to iOS 15 if you have an iPhone 6s and later, any model of iPhone SE, or the latest model of iPod touch. It will be available as a free download.
If you like your iPhone the way it is, Apple also said you don’t need to update to iOS 15. For the foreseeable future, the company will update iOS 14 with security patches.
