The many subscribers to Hulu Plus Live TV will soon have to pay more for the live TV service. According to DeadlineSubscribers have been told that the price of Hulu Plus Live TV will increase significantly. Starting Friday, December 18, subscribers will pay $ 64.99 per month – a full $ 10 more than the current price level of $ 54.99. The Ad-Free Hulu Plus Live TV package will also increase by $ 10, from $ 60.99 per month to $ 70.99.
Hulu didn’t reveal why the price was going up so much.
The service provides access to over 60 live TV channels, including local network partners. It offers additional channels including pay movie channels via additional add-on packages.
The new live TV price will not affect the subscription prices of Hulu’s on-demand service, which will stay at $ 5.99 per month (with ads) or $ 11.99 per month (without ads). Hulu’s owner Disney announced last week that Hulu Plus Live TV had 4.1 million subscribers as of September 30th. The regular on-demand Hulu service had 32.5 million subscribers.
In late June, one of Hulu Plus Live TV’s biggest competitors, YouTube TV, announced an even bigger price hike. It rose by $ 15 from $ 49.99 to $ 64.99 per month.
