Huawei P50 renders show details of its over-the-top camera module
- The renders of the Huawei P50 seem to offer more details about its camera.
- You would “only” get a 13-90 mm equivalent zoom, but many lenses.
- It’s not clear when the P50 series will ship.
More details of the Huawei P50 series’ apparently ridiculous camera array may have surfaced. Established leaker has Teme divided Renderings show what close-up shots from the P50’s camera system look like, including some possible new details.
The P50 on display (possibly a Pro Plus) has the huge, two-piece camera bump seen on previous leaks. However, the lettering on the phone suggests that it has a corresponding zoom of 13 to 90mm. This offers roughly the same zoom factor as predecessors such as the P40 Pro and the Mate 40 Pro (both 18-125 mm), but with larger overall angles.

Previous rumors said the base P50 shipped with primary, ultra-wide, and telephoto rear camera units. The Pro would swap out the telephoto lens for a 5x periscope camera, while the Pro Plus would include both telephoto and periscope shooters. It could be Huawei’s first flagship to ship with Harmony OS instead of Android.
It is still not certain when the P50 and its massive camera module will be available. Huawei unveiled the P40 series in March 2020, but it clearly doesn’t go beyond the sequel if there hasn’t even been a teaser for the new model. The global shortage of chips has not helped the company’s plans either. While the renders suggest the P50 will be available relatively soon, it wouldn’t be surprising if Huawei waited a while longer for its star smartphone to be launched.
