Huawei Mate X2 launch date and inward-folding design confirmed

It’s an open secret that Huawei is working on a new foldable phone, but the company has been fairly silent about the details. Now Huawei has confirmed the launch date and title of its next foldable device, the Huawei Mate X2.
The company’s third leaflet will make its arch in China on February 22nd – a year after the Huawei Mate XS debuted.
Although the phones have similar titles, there is one key difference between the Mate X / XS and the Mate X2. While the first two devices use outward-folding screens, the Huawei Mate X2 will adopt an inward-folding design – similar to the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2
It is a design optimization that is supposed to provide better protection for the fragile display, but it may affect functionality. The Mate XS ‘outer display also served as a selfie camera mirror, allowing users to capture themselves with the primary camera array. This is only possible if the Mate X2 has a secondary rear window.
After the last few leaks, this will not be the case. The Huawei Mate X2 is expected to have an 8.01-inch flip-up display with a size of 2,480 x 2,200 and a larger 6.45-inch screen. Internally, a Kirin 9000 chipset is powered by a 4,400 mAh battery. In terms of camera hardware, we could see a 50-megapixel main camera that included three tertiary shooters. There will also appear to be a dedicated 16MP selfie camera.
Despite the screams from readers for Google’s return to Huawei devices, the phone is unlikely to start with GMS. It’s also unclear whether the Mate X2 will mark the Harmony OS’s official debut on a smartphone.
Huawei has not yet confirmed any further details about the Mate X2, but expects more information later this month.
