Huawei FreeBuds Studio take aim at Bose, Sony, and Sennheiser
- The Huawei FreeBuds Studio has encountered a leak.
- The headphones are equipped with ANC and long battery life.
- The price could be just under € 400.
Details on Huawei’s first over-ear headphones – the Huawei FreeBuds Studio – have been leaked thanks to marketing material people access at WinFuture. The headphones are equipped with Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) and should cost just under 400 euros.
At this price point, it’s difficult not to make comparisons between the new Huawei headphones and the Bose Noise Canceling Headphones 700 or the Sony WH-1000XM4. It looks like Huawei is pretty confident of rivaling established players in the industry and is eager to expand its device portfolio given the recent loss of its smartphone business.
In terms of specs, the Huawei FreeBuds Studio is said to offer a dynamic 40mm driver that runs on the same Huawei Kirin A1 chip that runs the real Huawei FreeBuds Pro wireless earbuds. Therefore, the sound quality and ANC performance of the upcoming headset should be good. The leak suggests that the headphones can reduce ambient noise by up to 40 decibels.

The battery life of the new Huawei headphones should also be reasonable. They come with two 410 mAh batteries that can last up to 20 hours for music playback and up to 15 hours for phone calls. However, there is no information on how long the batteries will last with the ANC on.
Elsewhere, the headphones have a USB-C port for charging and apparently can be charged for five hours in 10 minutes. They are also said to be equipped with the latest Bluetooth 5.2 standard, so connectivity should be fairly stable.
All in all, the specs of the Huawei FreeBuds Studio sound pretty promising. What remains to be seen is how well they perform in real life and whether they can actually bring the warmth to the Bose, Sony and Sennheiser of the world.
