British Prime Minister Boris Johnson is You want to reduce the number of devices Huawei uses in UK 5G networksAccording to a Friday report. The plan could lead to the Chinese network giant being completely removed from the next generation of British mobile networks by 2023, the Telegraph said.
It is followed by right-wing politicians who, according to the Telegraph, argue against the use of Chinese companies’ equipment due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Huawei, 10 Downing Street and the British cabinet did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
Johnson approved Huawei for 5G in the UK in January under certain conditions. The UK restrictions are to exclude Huawei from building core parts of the UK’s 5G networks, limit Huawei’s market share to 35%, and exclude Huawei from sensitive geographic locations.
Huawei’s 5G approval came there, even though the U.S. asked Britain to ban the Chinese telecommunications giant.
Last month a A senior British official reportedly said the UK was unlikely to rethink its “firm” decision to allow Huawei Access to non-sensitive parts of the 5G network.
