HP Envy 14, Elite Folio, earbuds stars of its CES show
- HP unveiled a number of new laptops at CES 2021, including the highly anticipated HP Envy 14.
- A new entry has also been introduced in the HP Elite Folio 2-in-1 tablet series.
- Interestingly, it also launched its first set of true wireless earbuds known as the HP Elite Wireless Earbuds.
CES 2021 is now in full swing and we’ve received tons of product announcements from the Hewlett-Packard Company. HP launched numerous laptops as well as tablets, mice, computer monitors, and even backpacks.

We wanted to focus on three of the most interesting products from the CES 2021 range: HP Envy 14, HP Elite Folio, and yes, the HP Elite Wireless Earbuds.
HP Envy 14: Creators Wanted
The 2020 HP Envy x360 was one of the top-rated laptops of the past year. The Envy x360 gives you the style and design aesthetics of the high-end Specter series, but at a much cheaper price.
At $ 999, the HP Envy 14 is quite expensive. In fact, that price blurs the line between the mid-range Envy family and the high-end Specter series. Regardless, this seems like a great machine if you can afford it.
What made the price go up? Inside the HP Envy 14 there is an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1650Ti graphics card and an 11th generation Intel Core i5 chip. This makes it far more powerful than most other Envy models. Of course, unless you are a gamer or a creator this hardware will be over the top for your needs.
However, HP hopes you are a creator because that appears to be the marketing team. The slim, minimalist design of the laptop is on trend, and the performance of this graphics card makes editing videos on the go a breeze.
This is going to be a great laptop – if you can afford it.
Elsewhere on the data sheet you will find 16 GB RAM, a 256 GB SSD, an integrated 720p webcam and a 1,920 x 1,200 IPS LCD touch display. This display is 14 inches diagonally and has a screen-to-body ratio of 87%. As a welcome surprise, the HP Envy 14 also works with Wi-Fi 6.
In general, this seems like a powerful laptop at an affordable price. It will only be disappointing to those who got hooked on the Envy x360’s more value-oriented direction.
HP Elite Folio: Battle the surface with 5G
In 2019, the Specter Folio was a welcome departure from the norm. While it’s a pretty standard 2-in-1 tablet at its core, the fact that it was wrapped in leather really sets it apart from the crowd. It certainly caught the attention of Microsoft Surface fans that the device was obviously trying to advertise.
In 2021 we now have the HP Elite Folio. Like its predecessor, the screen has a double hinge that allows you to work in traditional clamshell style and then quickly switch to a tablet experience.

However, this is where the similarities end. The Elite Folio does not contain leather. Instead, HP went green by using 90 wt% recycled magnesium and even some ocean-bound plastics.
The biggest difference, however, is that the HP Elite Folio has a second-generation Qualcomm Snapdragon 8cx 5G chipset. The previous Specter Folio had the standard Intel Core processor. This makes the Elite Folio a completely different product considering how young Windows on Arm is right now.
Even so, the Elite Folio seems like a great machine for those who find it cool to jump into untested waters. You can get up to 16 GB of RAM, up to 512 GB of internal SSD storage, and a 3: 2 display with a resolution of 1,920 x 1,280 in Gorilla Glass 5. With this mobile processor in place, you can optionally access 5G cellular networks – no hotspot required.
HP hasn’t announced how much the Elite Folio will cost yet, but you can expect at least a four-digit price tag.
HP Elite Wireless Earbuds
Finally, we have probably the most unexpected product in the HP CES 2021 range. While HP has already released headphone products, this is the company’s first pair of true wireless earbuds. It calls them the HP Elite Wireless Earbuds.

HP claims these buds will be “the most advanced collaborative earbuds” compared to competitor products. The basis of this claim is that these earbuds offer customizable settings for noise cancellation and audio tuning. They also offer automatic presets for sound situations, e.g. B. in the office, at home or in the gym.
HP also says these earbuds will switch between different listening modes seamlessly. For example, you can quickly switch from using your phone to using your PC. This is made possible by the “simple” app available for Android, iOS, Windows and Mac.
HP has not disclosed pricing for the Elite Wireless Earbuds. They come with another laptop product announced at CES: the HP Elite Dragonfly Max.
