Your Fitbit will reliably count the hours, but there are some times when you wonder how you can change the time on your device. The most common reason your watch is off is because of long distance travel. If you’re feeling jet lagged, your Fitbit may be a little behind too. Read this guide to learn how to change the time on your Fitbit device.
How to set the time on your Fitbit
Whether your Fitbit is still clocking in island time or this time of year when we are all trying to save the daylight, changing your watch isn’t all that difficult. Just let your device know where (or when?) You are by resetting your time zone. Unfortunately, you can’t do this directly on your Fitbit smartwatch or tracker, but follow the instructions below for a quick and easy fix.
From your Android device
- Open the Fitbit app and tap the account Icon (your profile picture in the top left corner).
- Scroll down and tap App settings.
- Turn off Automatic time zone, then tap Select time zone and select your current time position from the drop-down menu.
- Sync your device to change the time on your Fitbit.
From your iOS device
- Open the Fitbit app and tap the account Icon (your profile picture in the top left corner).
- Scroll down and tap App settings, then tap Time zone.
- Switch off Set automatically, then tap Time zone to select your current location.
- Sync your device to change the time on your Fitbit.
From Windows 10
- Open the Fitbit app and click or tap the account Symbol.
- Click on Advanced settings.
- Click on Time zone and turn off the Auto option. Select your current time zone.
- Sync your device to change the time on your Fitbit.

How to change your Fitbit to a 12 or 24 hour clock

If you don’t prefer the ambiguity of a 12-hour clock, or your job requires 24-hour time (also called military time), you can set the time on your Fitbit to a 24-hour clock. What you do at 4:00 p.m. – whether you hit the gym or happy hour – is up to you.
- Open your web browser and go to fitbit.com. Log into the dashboard and click on the Gear icon in the upper right corner.
- Click in the drop-down menu settings, then scroll down under Personal information to Clock display time.
- Click the arrow to the right of your current clock setting and select 12 hours or 24 hours.
- click Submit and sync your device.
