How to Cancel Disney+ | Digital Trends
Home to everything Disney, Pixar, Star Wars, Marvel, and more, the long-awaited Disney+ streaming platform took the world by storm in November 2019. With multiple subscription options available, including bundles with ESPN, Spotify, and Hulu, as well as hundreds of hours of movies and shows to view, there’s plenty to love about the service. That being said, not every streaming membership is meant to last forever. Whether you’re not a fan of what the platform has to offer, don’t want to continue paying, or are sick of the glitches, you’re reading this how-to because you’ve decided to part ways with your Disney+ subscription.
Whatever the reason, canceling Disney+ is just as easy as signing up. If you really want to cancel, you’re only a few clicks away.
Cancel via a web browser
Use these instructions if you signed up using a PC rather than an Android or Apple device. You cannot complete the cancellation through the mobile apps.
Step 1: Log in to your Disney+ account on the Disney+ website.
Step 2: Click on the account holder’s profile icon.
Step 3: Click or hover over the Profile icon in the top right corner.
Step 4: Choose Account from the drop-down menu.
Step 5: Under Subscription, click on the subscription.
Step 6: Click the Cancel Subscription link.
Step 7: Enter a reason for canceling.
Step 8: Select Continue to Cancel.
Cancel via Google Play
Use these instructions if you signed up using the Disney+ Android app.
Step 1: Open the Google Play Store.
Step 2: Tap the three-line Menu icon in the top left corner.
Step 3: Tap Subscriptions.
Step 4: Tap Disney+.
Step 5: Tap Cancel Subscription.
Cancel via iOS and iPadOS
Use these instructions if you signed up using the Disney+ app for Apple-branded devices.
Step 1: Tap to open Settings.
Step 2: Tap your name (Apple ID).
Step 3: Tap Subscriptions.
Step 4: Tap Disney+.
Step 5: Tap Cancel Subscription.
After you cancel Disney+
You’ll be able to access Disney+ until your current subscription period ends. If you had the seven-day trial, you’d still get your full seven days. Otherwise, you’ll have access until your next billing date, at which time your subscription will be canceled. Looking for a refund to your credit card? Unfortunately, Disney+ doesn’t offer them for partially used billing services, but at least you won’t see a cancellation fee.
Even after canceling, your overall Disney account (which the site creates when you sign up for Disney+ and is used across all of Disney’s websites) will still be active. There’s no problem with this account still existing, though you’ll still get promotional emails sent to that account. If you want to cancel your Disney account altogether, do the following:
Step 1: Go to Disney’s Privacy Controls page.
Step 2: Sign in using the link under Manage Your Registration Account.
Step 3: This page will allow you to change your notification preferences, like what emails you receive and how frequently you receive them. Or you can completely cancel your Disney account.
Note that deleting your Disney account won’t automatically cancel your Disney+ subscription, but it will make it impossible for you to log in to Disney+. So if you’re trying to close out your entire Disney account, end Disney+ before you cancel your personal Disney account. Otherwise, you’re going to have to give Disney’s customer service department a call to sort things out.
Now it’s time to see what TV shows Netflix is currently offering.
