How impressive is BBK’s first laptop?

Render Realme Book 1

TL; DR

  • Realme officially launched its first laptop.
  • The Realme Book has a thin aluminum case, 11th generation Intel CPUs and 14-inch displays.
  • The price starts at $ 749.

News that Realme was preparing BBK Electronics’ first laptop broke out of cover back in June. Now, a little over two months later, the brand has officially launched the Realme Book.

Realme’s first attempt has conservative styling features overridden by a 3: 2 display on an aluminum case. A backlit keyboard with three brightness modes increases productivity even in low-light environments, as does the Microsoft Precision touchpad.

The device is also known as the Realme Book Slim and the laptop measures 15.5 mm at its thickest point. It doesn’t win any awards in this area, but it’s thin enough to easily fit into the literature sleeve of an airplane seat. We are also looking at a relatively low weight of 1.38 kg.

Realme Book specifications

Let’s get to some specifications. The Realme Book is covered by a 14-inch IPS 2,160 x 1,440 display with gorilla glass. The screen covers 100% of the sRGB color space and achieves a brightness of 400 nits.

Internally there is a selection of 11th generation Intel CPUs. Buyers can choose between the dual-core i3-1115G4 or the quad-core i5-1135G7 – both offer turbo clock speeds of over 4.0 GHz, which should be sufficient for general web surfing and light gaming. Speaking of gaming: The Realme Book comes with Intel’s Iris XE GPUs.

The Realme Book uses a 54 Wh battery for power supply, which is charged by a 65 W USB-C charger. Realme claims that the latter can charge the battery to 50% in half an hour. Smartly, Realme phone owners can also use 30W Dark Charge enabled chargers for the Realme Book.

As for I / O, the i3 model employs a single USB-C port, while the i5 supports another that supports Thunderbolt 4. There is a single USB-A port and a combo headphone jack. Standard on both models are stereo speakers tuned by Harman Kardon, two microphones, an on / off / fingerprint combo key and Windows 10 Home. The latter will get a free upgrade to Windows 11 when the operating system arrives.

Finally, Realme is also introducing its PC Connect feature on the laptop. This allows some Realme devices to mirror their display on the computer.

Realme Book price and availability

As mentioned earlier, the Realme Book will land with a choice of two Intel chipsets. Each has two other RAM / storage options. The global suggested retail price is as follows:

  • i3 8GB RAM / 256GB storage: $ 749
  • i3 8GB / 512GB: $ 799
  • i5 8GB / 512GB: $ 969
  • i5 16GB / 512GB: $ 999

Realme is offering the i3 model in India with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage for Rs 46,999 (~ 632) on the company’s official website. The i5 8GB / 512GB model costs Rs 59,999 (~ $ 807). The Realme Book will be available from August 30th in two colors: Real Blue and Real Gray.
