Horizon Zero Dawn was probably one of the best video games on PlayStation 4 and now – on his Future of gaming event – Sony has released the sequel to PlayStation 5 called Horizon Forbidden West.
You can see the full trailer below.
Horizon is set in a strange alternative future where humanity is almost extinct and robot dinosaurs roam the plains. It sounds bizarre and implausible, but somehow it works. Mostly as a result of a surprisingly well-designed universe and a story that somehow holds all of these strange threads together. Our sister site GameSpot has showered it with praise in its 9/10 review.
Horizon Forbidden West wants to set a new standard for the visual representation of video games. It looks like the game will focus heavily on water crossing alongside new robots. You see a robot mammoth roaming the wilderness and – bizarrely – a giant robot turtle?
It’s hard to figure out too many details, but the game seems to be playing in a brand new area, with a brand new threat that could affect the planet’s ability to save life. Aloy, the main character from the original, returns of course and is shown how she does Aloy things: shoot a bow, climb mountains, ride her robot horse.
Earlier this year, Sony announced that it would be Zero Dawn went to the PC this summer. No timeline was given when the sequel would be released on the PS5.
