Honor’s latest low-cost earbuds tout strong battery life

Honor Earbuds 2 Lite

TL; DR

  • Honor has introduced the Earbuds 2 Lite.
  • The true wireless earbuds last up to 10 hours on their own and 32 hours with the case.
  • They will be available in Europe on August 7th for € 69.90.

Honor’s wireless earbuds struggled to stand out in a crowded field, but that may change with the latest foray. Former Huawei brand has unveiled the Earbuds 2 Lite with durability and other features that might warrant a closer look.

The 55 mAh battery of the 2 Lite promises an unusually long 10 hours of listening pleasure from the headphones alone. For context, even Sony’s high-end WF-1000XM4 headphones create “only” claimed eight hours. Regardless of whether the Honor earbuds live up to this number or not, you are covered by a charging case that promises a total of up to 32 hours of music or 20 hours of phone calls. A 10 minute charge gives you up to 40% charge.

You’ll also find active noise cancellation, which is still uncommon at this price point, including an “awareness mode” (think transparency on AirPods Pro) that lets outside noise through. The two-microphone array isn’t the most sophisticated, although Honor claims the neural network AI and “dual anti-wind” technology will improve call quality in noisy situations.

Honor offers an “authentic and balanced” sound from the 10 mm drivers of the Earbuds 2 Lite. However, given the entry-level design, we would reserve our judgment at this point.

At least the price is right. Honor will release the Earbuds 2 Lite in the UK, Finland, France, Germany, Italy and Spain at a price of € 69.90 (about $ 83). That’s a good price for any ANC-equipped earbud, let alone models that theoretically last more than a full working day. It’s just a question of whether the quality meets Honor’s high marketing standards.
