Honor’s recent independence from Huawei has breathed new life into the company. Honor is now owned by a Chinese consortium and is no longer restricted by US sanctions. The company plans to launch flagship phones to compete with Apple and its mother ship Huawei.

Zhao confirmed that the company is in talks with Google and expects to resume relations with Mountain View soon.
Last week Honor resumed partnerships with Qualcomm, Intel, MediaTek, AMD, and a number of other technology companies. However, Google is still one of the biggest missing pieces in Honor’s new arsenal.
Without Google’s apps and services, the company won’t play a major role in Europe, one of the fastest growing markets before US sanctions came into effect.
When asked if he was concerned about the impact of US trade restrictions on Honor, Zhao said, “There is no need to impose restrictions on an ordinary consumer electronics company. We adhere to global business rules including intellectual property payments, tax payments, etc. We have an in-house compliance office that governs the behavior of each system. “
