- New print quality images from Sony’s WF-1000XM4 earbuds appear to have leaked.
- They support the talk of a new charging case and even show a new beige color.
- It is still not certain when the buds could be shipped.
You didn’t have to wait long for a better look at Sony’s repeatedly leaked WF-1000XM4 wireless earbuds. How XDA Reports, WinFuture‘s Roland Quandt seemingly shared press photos of the XM4 revealing a handful of new details in the process.
The images support claims that Sony redesigned the WF-1000XM4 with smaller, hopefully more comfortable, buds, each with a “ball” on it. They also show the reported new case of charge, which replaces what you got with the XM3, although nothing suggests wireless charging in the pictures we’ve seen so far.
As you may have noticed, there is a noticeable addition: a new color. Sony is reportedly preparing the WF-1000XM4 in a beige or chalk white shade. This wouldn’t be a completely surprising move (you can get the XM3 in white), but it could be comforting if you weren’t interested in getting a pair of XM4s in black.

Previous tips said the WF-1000XM4 had Hi-Res audio support and faster wired charging.
It is still not certain when Sony will be able to ship the WF-1000XM4. Changes to the FCC filing suggest it could roll out as early as June, but we wouldn’t expect that to be the case. In any case, the barrage of leaked images suggests a debut is coming relatively soon – and it’s good news for anyone wanting more cross-platform alternatives to Apple’s AirPods Pro.
