Here’s what you want from the OnePlus 9T

The OnePlus 9 series was launched a little over a month ago and brings three different flagship products to the table. We have the full-fledged premium device in the OnePlus 9 Pro, the standard OnePlus 9, and the OnePlus 9R targeting the affordable flagship.
Usually the company offers a T-series of flagship products in the second half of the year, and we had some ideas on how OnePlus could make things better. But what would you like to see in a OnePlus 9T series? That’s how you answered that question.
What do you hope to see most with the OnePlus 9T?
Results
The poll was released on April 25th and 1,379 votes were counted at the time of writing. Two answers stood above head and shoulders, however, with a selfie camera under the display (38.29%) and a trifecta on the rear camera (27.92%) being the most popular features respondents want to see on the OnePlus 9T.
We saw the first phone with a camera under the display late last year, but picture quality was an important step up over budget phones. So OnePlus has to make a major technological breakthrough if it wants an under-display camera that isn’t terrible.
It’s also easy to see why a Trifecta rear view camera (main, ultra-wide, telephoto) was a popular choice in this survey. The company’s Pro phones all offer this flexible camera setup, but we haven’t seen this Trifecta on a standard OnePlus phone since the OnePlus 7T 2019.
Android 12 out of the box took third place. ~ 13% of respondents wanted OnePlus to offer the new update from the start. Interestingly, the “Other” option came fourth, with ~ 9% of voters not satisfied with the other options on the list. Comments suggest that these readers are looking for better update commitments, optical image stabilization, better prices, and a headphone jack.
Higher capacity storage and faster wireless charging were the two least popular tips on the list.
Remarks
- Sigewulf: Start with something basic like OIS.
- Thalapathy Thalapathy: A competitive price brand is good.
- Austin: I hope to see a Mclaren Edition One + 9 Pro
- Woodie C Douglas: Return with a next generation headphone jack from OnePlus so musicians can use it with professional headphones as LG left the market.
- ProLoveLife: A good 3D ToF sensor and possibly a telephoto and an ultra-wide sensor instead of a main and an ultra-wide phone.
- pikkoz: Better software support / updates. Seriously, since OP6 (after that Android OS 9 port in record time) software updates have started sucking hard. Now a Oneplus device has good support for the first year, and then slow, buggy, and delayed updates remain.
Thank you for voting in our poll and for leaving comments. What do you expect from the OnePlus 9T series when it inevitably hits market later this year?
