Google had a surprise blow in their hands with the Pixel 4a. While it wasn’t the company’s flagship, it was a standout device thanks to its great value for money and its camera buttons. It will take some effort from Google to improve the device with the Pixel 5a.

With that in mind, we asked readers what they should focus on for the Pixel 5a. These are your recommendations.

What would you like to see with the Pixel 5a?

Google Pixel 5a survey results

We saw close to 1,500 votes across the six options, but it’s clear that users would be content with only two things.

34.5% of respondents want Google to keep the price of the Pixel 5a in the range of the Pixel 4a. The latter debuted at $ 349 and offered budget-conscious buyers a well-rounded mid-range option.

Readers also voted to strengthen a key area of the Pixel 5a. Around 30% of those questioned would like a more versatile camera arrangement. While we found it to be a capable camera in our review, the Pixel 4a uses a single 12-megapixel shooter. Wide angle, macro or telephoto shooters are not included. It’s perfect for those who want a straightforward, no-frills camera phone, but a stunted experience for those who want more.

Do not miss: The Google Pixel series camera shootout

In third place, 16% of users would like Google to equip the Pixel 5a with a 90 Hz display. This quickly becomes a matter of course for telephones with a medium range. With the Nord series, OnePlus has shown that it is possible to integrate faster displays without breaking the bank. This would also bring the pixel 5a in line with the pixel 5.

In the battle for the lower placements, both 5G connectivity and more color variants received almost 5% of the votes.

We also asked users to recommend some features that they would like to see. Wireless charging and water resistance were the top performances. Some users also want Google to make the device bigger, while others prefer the more compact footprint of the Pixel 4a. Read more reader comments below.

Here’s what you told us:

  • Tristan Lofgren: Wireless charging and maybe a 90Hz display and the 5a would be perfect.
  • George Garrett: To be very clear, wireless charging is less of a convenience for me and more of a reason for longevity. My charging ports on many phones of different brands always seem to wear out over time.
  • nunya7878: Keep the smaller size 4a (not 5G). The smaller 4a is, IMO, a perfect size.
  • ItsEasyBeingGreen: Water resistance, formally rated or not, and a faster processor to make it more competitive with the iPhone SE.
  • Kalyan Rao Viswanadhuni: Continue the compact phone factor with a full screen display. 144 * 70 * 9 dimensions.
  • Randall Ivy: I have vision problems. I would like a much bigger phone so I can see it better.
  • allhaileris: I need an IP rating and wireless charging, otherwise I won’t even think about buying it.

That’s it for this Google Pixel 5a survey. Thanks everyone for voting and commenting. If you have any further thoughts on the poll results or the Pixel 5a itself, please feel free to comment below.
